JENGA CONCEPT
DATE: 01.01.2011 / CATEGORY: APARTMENT COMPLEX
Inspired by the puzzle game called Jenga, Jenga's apartment building concept is a practical, stylish solution.
The residential complex looks symmetrical around horizontal axis. The design pattern is based in the appearance of a classical Jenga tower where wooden bloks are stacked. However, the building solution suggests a distribuition along the horizontal axis instead of a vertical structure.
The group of apartments consists in subgroups made of four apartments each. The whole complex is set up by putting together each subgroup and leaving a centered and partially covered corridor where the apartment halls are placed. All the apartments are two floor apartments. Dinning room, kitchen and one bathroom are placed in the first floor. Second floor is composed by the bedroom, one bathroom and an open space studio which gives access to the terrace.
The apartment looks externally solid with only two visible openings. Both openings are large windows placed in the dinning room and the studio. Moreover, the bedroom and also the dinning room have skylight openings to provide interior light while granting privacy.
