My First Post — December 20th, 2009
Benvingut, Bienvenido, 欢迎, 歓迎, Welcome, مرحبا, Willkommen, Добро пожаловать
Hello world,
and welcome to my personal blog.
Before knowing the hows and whys that theoretically justify present and future posts, let me introduce myself first.
Who am I?
As you may have noticed my name is Daniel. I was born in Barcelona in 1984, which means I'm in my mid 20's as I write these words.
A couple of years ago life causality made me graduate in Computer Engineering, a degree which I fully recommend in case you have a right minded brain. However, and while learning a lot of bit related stuff, I started to focus my attention on the visible part of every human-action-required technological system, the user interface. I'd say that the main reason which motivates my interest in that arena is seeing how the biggest potential can be completely useless due to bad user interface solutions, and how the simplest application ever can turn out into an engaging experience because of a great interface.
My professional side is still in an early stage.
I was working as usability consultant and learning some secrets of that discipline before finding my current job. Currently I'm in the field of web analytics, where my main goal is to increase conversion rates. Not only that but I try to create better user experiences based on qualitative analysis of the user browsing behaviour.
I must admit I enjoy my job, not only because I am happy to help users, but because every day you learn something new about them.
About the blog
So, why am I writing a blog? Well, I still do not know really but I am convinced it will be a very positive experience.
I've always been a passive consumer of Internet content but I think the best way to learn is getting your hands dirty.
"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."
So, the idea is to use the blog as a tool to think about these things that I usually pay attention to but most of the times fall into oblivion.
I guess this blog wouldn't be monotopic, but probably most of the things discussed here will have common participants: users and technology. Maybe some key words would be helpful here but listing them could be compromising, so I prefer to discover them post after post.
About publishing periodicity I guess I'll be posting once or twice a month. I know, that's not too much. However, I promise to do my best to compensate this low frequency with high-quality contents.
To conclude, just to say I hope for there to be a next visit and feel free to follow me on twitter :)
See you!
